    Art Afternoon: Workshop and Social for Seniors

    Friday January 8, 2016 / 1 – 3 pm

    Seniors are invited to spend the afternoon at the Museum. Enjoy a guided tour and a studio art class along with light refreshments. Monthly tours and projects are designed for participants of all levels of experience and offer an engaging and interactive experience. These monthly sessions are held on the second Friday of each month. Registration is available online or day of.

    Meet the Artist: Megan Berner’s Arctic Artist Residency

    Artist Megan Berner presents about an artist residency she completed inside the Arctic Circle during the summer solstice in June 2015. She will talk about her experience sailing around the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard, and her new series of work based on ice, light, and wind.

    Early Childhood Education Roundtable

    Thursday January 28, 2016 / 5:30 – 7:30 pm

    Through monthly meetings and workshops, a cohort of early childhood educators use the Museum to explore questions about the dynamic, multi-modal learning that results from creative play and inquiry-based early childhood learning in the more informal environments of museums and other public educational spaces.

    STEAM for Teaching and Learning

    Saturday January 30, 2016 / 8 am – 4:30 pm

    Join educators from around Northern Nevada to explore ideas about incorporating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) learning into your classrooms. A dynamic keynote address by famed landscape architect Cheryl Barton, titled “The Theory of Here” will address climate change and resilience through design. The day also includes hands-on workshops and ways to translate ideas learned into classroom activities. A continental breakfast, lunch and a late afternoon reception will be provided. The Nevada Museum of Art, the Desert Research Institute, Northern Nevada RPDP and Sustainable Nevada are working together to offer a unique training opportunity. There is no cost to attend this training and participants are eligible to receive 0.5 in-service credit.
