    Tour the featured exhibition with one of the Museum’s trained docents during a regularly scheduled Guided Tour offered Thursdays at 6 pm (except First Thursdays). Additional Guided Tours on Saturdays at 1 pm; Sundays at 1 pm; and the last Wednesday of each month at 1:30 pm. Reservations are not needed.

    Bill Fox in the Galleries

    Friday March 9, 2018 / 12 – 1 pm

    William L. Fox serves as the Director of the Center for Art and Environment, at the Nevada Museum of Art.  As one of the show’s curators, Fox will explore the significance of Marking the Infinite and the diverse island continent which influences the artistic practices of Aboriginal Australians.  Join Fox in the galleries for an in-depth discovery of the works in Marking the Infinite.

    Art Afternoon: Workshop and Social for Seniors

    Friday March 9, 2018 / 1 – 3 pm

    Seniors are invited to spend the afternoon at the Museum. Enjoy a guided tour and a studio art class along with light refreshments. Monthly tours and projects are designed for participants of all levels of experience and offer an engaging and interactive experience. These monthly sessions are held on the second Friday of each month. Advanced registration is recommended.

    Hands ON! Second Saturdays

    Saturday March 10, 2018 / 10 am – 6 pm

    The Hands ON! on Second Saturdays program offers monthly free admission, hands-on art activities, storytelling, a docent-guided tour, live performances, and community collaborations.  “Art Investigators” provides children the opportunity to engage with Museum staff and take a closer look at artwork while engaging in a dialogue about key pieces.  New exhibitions, community collaborations, cultural explorations, guest performances and monthly themes rotate in this engaging series of monthly programs.

    Early Childhood Education Roundtable

    Thursday March 15, 2018 / 5:45 – 7:30 pm

    Educators are invited to these FREE monthly roundtables, which provide participants an opportunity to interact with art and each other. Principles of design, interactive activities, and implications for teaching and learning inform the discussion about dynamic multi-modal learning that results from creative play and inquiry-based early childhood experiences. Registration is required. For questions, please contact Leah Sanders, curriculum coach at UNR.

    Pre-meeting gathering at chez louie (no host) begins at 4:30 pm.

    Registry credit (1.5 hours) and CEU credit (.5 for attending 5 sessions) are available.

    BRDI Presents: The Rational Dress Society

    The Rational Dress Society is a counter-fashion collective and the designers of JUMPSUIT, the ungendered, open-source monogarment to replace all clothes in perpetuity. Join founders Abigail Glaum-Lathbury and Maura Brewer to explore how they use design and controversy to challenge identity and buying practices.

    Guy Clifton: The Life and Travels of Hans Meyer-Kassel

    Saturday March 24, 2018 / 2 – 3 pm

    By the time Hans Meyer-Kassel settled in Nevada in 1935, he was sixty-three-years-old with a lifetime of experience and artistic accomplishments. Drawn to the American West, the German émigré artist and his wife relocated for a short time to Reno, and then Carson City, before settling in the small town of Genoa on the eastern slope of the Sierras. Longtime Nevada author and researcher, Guy Clifton will recount the life of Hans Meyer-Kassel, revealing new materials recently discovered through his research of newspaper reviews, archives, and other unpublished articles.
