    Educator Evenings

    Wednesday June 6, 2018 / 4 – 6 pm

    Local educators are invited to this FREE special series on the first Wednesday of every month (excluding January and July). Join Charles N. Mathewson Director of Education Marisa Cooper for a presentation, discussion and activity based on the Museum’s collections and current exhibitions as they relate to teaching and the Nevada Academic Content Standards.

    A light reception will follow the presentation. Teacher in-service credit is available for participating in the Educator Evenings. Earn 0.5 teacher in-service credit for attending five Educator Evenings and 1.0 credit for attending ten during August 1 through July 31 timeframe. Please check with the State of Nevada to see if credit may be applied to your area of licensure.

    Educator Evenings are sponsored by the William G. McGowan Charitable Fund, the Nell J. Redfield Foundation, Reno Orthopaedic Clinic, and Switch, the lead sponsor of the Museum’s STEAM education programs.

    Art Afternoon: Workshop and Social for Seniors

    Friday June 8, 2018 / 1 – 3 pm

    Seniors are invited to spend the afternoon at the Museum. Enjoy a guided tour and a studio art class along with light refreshments. Monthly tours and projects are designed for participants of all levels of experience and offer an engaging and interactive experience. These monthly sessions are held on the second Friday of each month. Advanced registration is recommended.

    Hands ON! Second Saturdays

    Saturday June 9, 2018 / 10 am – 6 pm

    The Hands ON! on Second Saturdays program offers monthly free admission, hands-on art activities, storytelling, a docent-guided tour, live performances, and community collaborations.  “Art Investigators” provides children the opportunity to engage with Museum staff and take a closer look at artwork while engaging in a dialogue about key pieces.  New exhibitions, community collaborations, cultural explorations, guest performances and monthly themes rotate in this engaging series of monthly programs.

    Guided Tour – Wednesday Afternoon

    Wednesday June 27, 2018 / 1:30 – 2:30 pm

    Enjoy a tour of the galleries after lunch with one of the Museum’s trained docents during a regularly scheduled Guided Tour offered the last Wednesday of each month at 1:30 pm. Additional Guided Tours offered Thursdays at 6 pm (except First Thursdays); Saturdays at 1 pm; and Sundays at 1 pm. Reservations are not needed.
