    Volunteers in Art (VIA) hosts the 37th Annual Arts and Flowers Luncheon at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa from 10:30 am to 2 pm. Enjoy a wonderful afternoon filled with shopping in the Artisan Mall for distinctive, original, handcrafted holiday gifts, and savor a delicious lunch. All donations and proceeds benefit the Volunteers in Art of the Nevada Museum of Art.

    Anne: In Her Own Words Matinee

    Not only a photographer, Anne Brigman was also a writer, critic, poet, and actor who was an advocate for women’s freedom during the suffrage movement and an influential voice in her East Bay Area community.

    This theatrical presentation tells the story of Brigman’s life in her own words.

    Starring Mary Bennett, professional actor, educator, theater maker and Producing Artistic Director of Bruka Theater as Anne Brigman. Written in collaboration with Ann M. Wolfe.

    Educator Evenings

    Wednesday November 7, 2018 / 4 – 6 pm

    Local educators are invited to this FREE special series on the first Wednesday of every month (excluding January and July). Join Charles N. Mathewson Director of Education Marisa Cooper for a presentation, discussion and activity based on the Museum’s collections and current exhibitions as they relate to teaching and the Nevada Academic Content Standards.

    A light reception will follow the presentation. Teacher in-service credit is available for participating in the Educator Evenings. Earn 0.5 teacher in-service credit for attending five Educator Evenings and 1.0 credit for attending ten during August 1 through July 31 timeframe. Please check with the State of Nevada to see if credit may be applied to your area of licensure.

    The series provides opportunities for community conversation, learning, and informed discussion about art and creativity, followed by questions and dialogue designed to engage the audience. Join highly skilled and knowledgeable Docents in the gallery for an in-depth discovery of Anne Brigman: A Visionary in Modern Photography.

    Art Afternoon: Workshop and Social for Seniors

    Friday November 9, 2018 / 1 – 3 pm

    Seniors are invited to spend the afternoon at the Museum. Enjoy a guided tour and a studio art class along with light refreshments. Monthly tours and projects are designed for participants of all levels of experience and offer an engaging and interactive experience. These monthly sessions are held on the second Friday of each month. Advanced registration is recommended.

    Hands ON! Second Saturdays

    Saturday November 10, 2018 / 10 am – 6 pm

    The Hands ON! on Second Saturdays program offers monthly free admission, hands-on art activities, storytelling, a docent-guided tour, live performances, and community collaborations.  “Art Investigators” provides children the opportunity to engage with Museum staff and take a closer look at artwork while engaging in a dialogue about key pieces.  New exhibitions, community collaborations, cultural explorations, guest performances and monthly themes rotate in this engaging series of monthly programs.

    Early Childhood Education Roundtable

    Thursday November 15, 2018 / 5:45 – 7:30 pm

    Educators are invited to these FREE monthly informative roundtables, which provide participants an opportunity to interact with art and each other. Each month, a different exhibition becomes the focus for discussion to support children’s learning through creative play in diverse early childhood settings. Registration is required. For questions, please contact Leah Sanders, Educational Consultant or Terry Randolph, PreK Program Coordinator, WCSD.

    4x4x48 Music Video Challenge

    Thursday November 15, 2018 / 6 – 7 pm

    The Holland Project challenged film directors to create a music video from start-to-finish for local bands of Holland’s choosing in just 48 hours. Each filmmaker was also tasked with incorporating five elements into their films (as chosen by last year’s filmmakers). The five elements were not revealed until the clock was punched at the start of their 48-hour journey. Join us for the screening of the results followed by a Q & A with the filmmakers and musicians.

    Guided Tour – Wednesday Afternoon

    Wednesday November 28, 2018 / 1:30 – 2:30 pm

    Enjoy a tour of the galleries after lunch with one of the Museum’s trained docents during a regularly scheduled Guided Tour offered every Wednesday at 1:30 pm. Additional Guided Tours offered Thursdays at 6 pm (except First Thursdays); Saturdays at 1 pm; and Sundays at 1 pm. Reservations are not needed.
