CA+E Archive Collections
The CA+E Archive Collections hold materials related to projects created in and about natural, built, and virtual environments. The first major gift to the Archive was from Joan and G. Robert Deiro, who donated items related to Earthworks artists Michael Heizer, Walter De Maria, and Charles Ross. Since that time, the Center has acquired materials by or relating to work by more than 400 artists working on all seven continents.
The Archive Collections have several focus areas, including Land Art, art of extreme environments, and art of the polar regions. Particular emphasis is placed on archive materials related to artists and artworks in the Museum’s permanent collections, and on the Art + Environment exhibitions of the Museum.
The Center acquires annually the ongoing archives from the Land Arts of the American West program at the University of New Mexico, the international Center for Land Use Interpretation/Wendover Residency Program, and The Land/an art site in Albuquerque.
