The Historical Collection
The Historical Collection is a survey of American art from the late 19th century through the 1970s and helps to give historical context to works in other focus areas of the Museum collection. The core of the collection dates from 1900 to 1945 and includes paintings by Stuart Davis, Maynard Dixon, Charlie Dye and Edward Borein. However, a number of acquisitions have added to this collection’s mid-century emphasis, including works by Sam Francis, Ellsworth Kelly, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Mortherwell, and Robert Rauschenberg.
