Project Involvement :: Acknowledgments

It is the beauty, strength, and vulnerability of these landscapes that I want my photography to communicate to its audiences…I want my work to raise questions about how we live in our own home landscapes.

Terry Evans
Terry Evans
Terry Evans’ photographs are in depth explorations of ecosystems. She is interested in photographing places where nature and culture meet and where the past meets the present. While the Midwest’s prairie lands have consumed the majority of Evans’ attention over the past 15 years, she has also photographed a logging village in Montana and the high desert country of New Mexico. She brings to the Salmon River a practiced eye and a talent for simplicity and composition.

Evans work has been seen throughout the country. She has been honored with one person exhibitions at major institutions including The National Museum of Natural History, a Smithsonian Institution; the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago; the Wichita Art Museum and Colorado Mountain College. Her work is included in public collections throughout the United States including the Chicago Art Institute, the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum in New York. Evans awards and grants include a Guggenheim Fellowship and a number of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. Her photographs have been included in numerous publications and she has to her credit three monographs of her work.
