James McNeill Whistler Selected Works from the Hunterian Art Gallery

James McNeill Whistler: Selected Works from the Hunterian Art Gallery presents 129 works including, paintings, prints, and personal belongings such as silverware, porcelain, manuscripts and books. The Hunterian Art Gallery of the University of Glasgow, Scotland, has the most extensive collection of Whistler's art, ranging from paintings to prints to sketch designs for costumes, interiors and graphic images. Notable paintings included in the exhibition are Self-Portrait, c. 1896, from a series intended to depict his likeness as well as his inner personality, and Red and Black, The Fan, c. 1891-1894, a portrait of Whistler's sister-in-law, Miss Ethel Birnie Phillip. The exhibit is organized by the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, Glasgow, Scotland and toured by International Arts & Artists, Washington, DC.
