    Introduction to Acrylic Painting Techniques

    Tuesdays, February 20 - March 20 / 1 - 4 pm

    Students will enjoy this five-week introductory level course designed to teach basic acrylic painting techniques including blending, impasto, and dry brush. Students will paint from still life installations, geometric forms, and the portrait combining various painting techniques. Each class will approach acrylic paint differently to provide an introduction as to how the medium can be utilized for different styles and subject matter. *Supply list.

    Watercolor: Open Studio

    Wednesdays, February 21 - March 14 / 1 - 4 pm

    This intermediate level open studio class is designed for returning students and experienced students. Students should have a personal work in progress to work towards completing in this fun and social series. Each class will begin with a short lesson addressing a challenge or technique followed by open studio time to continue work on personal projects. Instructor will be on hand to assist with challenges, offer critique, instruction, and encouragement. *Supply list.

    Watercolor for Beginners

    Learn the skills used in creating beautiful paintings using translucent watercolors.Beginners will learn the basics of pallet set up, color mixing and a range of watercolor techniques including washes, dry brush work and “special effects.” *Supply list.

    Portrait Painting in Oil or Acrylics

    Tuesdays, February 27 - March 27 / 6 – 9 pm

    Students will be introduced to portrait painting techniques in the first two class sessions (without a model). The following three classes will have brief instruction at the beginning of class followed by an open studio format painting class working from a live model. Students may use acrylic or oil paint. *Supply list.

    Color Studies in Watercolor

    Translucence is at the heart of watercolor painting. Learn to chart and mix your colors to keep the beautiful luminosity of the medium. This class includes color charting both wet and dry, mixing triads for unusual color, and learning to combine warm and cool hues.     Oil Painting: Landscapes from Photographs

    Tuesdays, April 17 - May 15 / 6 - 9 pm

    Working in oil paint, students will explore value divisions in landscapes and the basics of brush sketching and massing. With these skills students will learn how to relate color to value and will gain a better understanding of identifying spatial cues in a landscape. Using foundational skills students can then explore under-painting, glazing and dry-brushing techniques. *Supply list.
