    Summer Intensive: A Crash Course in Drawing Fundamentals

    Monday - Friday, June 18 - 22 / 9 am - 12 pm

    Students will enjoy this introductory level course designed to teach basic drawing techniques including rendering, figure drawing, and perspective. This class is designed to provide a foundation for drawing, teaching students how to realistically draw objects, environments and people. Each class will focus on different drawing techniques and strategies, beginning with rendering and shading objects in perspective to drawing a live model. *Supply list.

    Introduction to Color in Oil or Acrylics

    Tuesday - Thursday, June 26 - 28 / 9 am - noon

    This course is a 3-day intensive study covering the use of color with emphasis on how seeing relates to color choices. Students will gain a good foundational working knowledge of how to mix and use color as it relates to making artwork. The class will be exposed to many color theories, which will be put into practice. Each lesson begins with the concepts to be covered, demonstration of the techniques, hands on experience. *Supply list

    This class is designed for beginning to intermediate photographers who have purchased a digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera or a mirrorless camera. Course participants will explore the specific features of DSLR or mirrorless cameras, as well as general photographic skills and techniques to make great pictures. *Supply list.

    Drawing the Landscape: Value, Depth and Perspective

    Monday - Friday, July 9 - 13 / 9 am - 12 pm

    From field sketches to finished works artists have always worked to capture the landscape. In this class students will learn techniques for working quickly when time is of the essence, and how to develop a drawing over a period of time. Along with value, depth and perspective students cultivate an eye for composition. Students will be introduced to a variety of mediums, as well as complete a sketch using oil paint. *Supply list.

    Impressionist Painting Techniques in Oil

    Monday - Friday, July 16 - 20 / 9 am - noon

    Inspired by the American and French Impressionists, students will use oil paint to explore color, light and shadow in this summer intensive. This series will explore brushwork techniques, cropped compositions, color breaking and mixing colors directly on canvas. *Supply list.

    Introduction to Marbling Techniques on Paper and Fabric

    Tuesday - Thursdays, July 17 - 19 / 10 am - 3 pm

    In this 3-day workshop will introduce students marbling techniques on both paper and fabric. Students will begin the day by working on basic marbling skills. With the instructor's guidance, they will work on new patterns with an eye for nuance. Students will get hands on experience of all aspects of marbling from preparatory mixing of water medium and paints, to the creation of classical patterns. Specific attention will be given to learning how to obtain particular designs using a diverse array of rakes and combs. Students will have ample time for experimentation with guidance from the instructor. Day three will allow for open studio time for student to continue to work on their own pieces after learning the basics. All materials provided with registration.

    Explore abstraction through guided exercises designed to break boundaries and expand your creative language. Working with acrylic paint students will create landscapes using color, form and texture. Emphasis will be on risk taking and experimentation. Development of individual vision will be encouraged.     Drawing Techniques: Shape and Form

    Monday - Friday, July 30 - August 3 / 9 am - 12 pm

    Students enjoy this five-day intensive course designed to teach basic drawing techniques with a specific emphasis on drawing shape and form. Students will improve their observational drawing skills by first working on rendering basic shapes, working later towards creating compositions on the page and realistically drawing more complex objects, forms and textures while referencing staged still life displays. This class is designed to provide a strong introductory foundation for beginning drawing students and a refresher for more advanced students. *Supply list.

    Photography: Composition and Techniques

    Tuesday - Thursday, August 1 - 3 / 1 - 4 pm

    Take your photographs to the next level by learning proper composition and photography techniques. Students will learn the different ways to compose landscapes, still lifes and people, while also learning different techniques such as High Dynamic Range (HDR), panoramic stitching, long exposures, proper posing for people, working with photo filters and lighting terminology. *Supply list.
