Ongoing Programs

Join artists, architects, scholars, critics, historians, writers, and other specialists as they share their knowledge of the Museum’s collections and current feature exhibitions and timely issues through talks, gallery discussions and tours. Enjoy live music at the Museum’s First Thursday events or take in a film at one of our special screenings. Seniors will enjoy the unique Art Afternoon program, complete with a gallery tour and workshop participation.

  • First Thursday

    The first Thursday of each month | 5 – 7 pm
    Grab a drink, groove to the live music, and check out the current exhibitions.

  • Docent Guided Public Tours

    Thursdays | 6 pm (except First Thursdays)
    Saturdays and Sundays | 1 pm
    Guided tours are FREE for Museum members and limited to a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are not required. Spanish language tours by reservation at 775.398.7253.

  • Talks

    Local and regional scholars, writers, and artists share their historic, geographic, and artistic knowledge of the works on exhibit.

  • Art Bite Series

    Select Fridays | noon
    These half-hour lunchtime dialogues invite guests to experience an informal and intimate introduction to works in the galleries.

  • Art Afternoon: Workshop and Social for Seniors

    Second Friday of Each Month | 1 – 3 pm
    Seniors are invited to spend the afternoon at the Museum to enjoy a guided tour and studio art class along with light refreshments. No art experience necessary. Ages 60+.

  • Hands ON! Second Saturday

    Second Saturday of Each Month
    Hands On Second Saturday provides hands-on activities throughout the Museum. The activities offered encourage adults and children to make art together. Ages 3 to adult. FREE admission all day.

  • Films

    Select Sundays | 3 pm
    The Museum presents unique and independent films as part of its programmatic offerings to the community.

  • Sunday Music Brunch

    Every Sunday | 10 am – 2 pm
    Enjoy live music and brunch every Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm presented by chez louie. The menu features artful dishes, mimosas and a Bloody Mary Bar.

  • E. L. Cord Museum School

    The E.L. Cord Museum School offers tuition-based art classes for students of all ages on a quarterly basis. Current offerings include classes in painting, life drawing, ceramics, printmaking, photography, design courses, and book arts.
