School Tours

School tours require advance reservations.

School tours at the Nevada Museum of Art are designed to be interactive, age appropriate and can be constructed to accommodate a variety of curricular areas.

Reduced admission fees and complimentary busing for the school program has been generously underwritten by Bank of America, the Confidence Foundation, Art and Joanne Hall of the Fairweather Foundation, the Thelma B. and Thomas P.   • School tours should be requested at least four weeks in advance. Tours are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can be filled to capacity as far as three months in advance. It is recommended that you request your tour as early as possible to secure a reservation.
  • A confirmation notice will be sent to you via e-mail within 10 days of your tour request.
  • It is recommended that teachers view the exhibits prior to the class visit.
  • Washoe County School District and Douglas County School District receive free busing.

Guided Tours (Grades 1-12)

Docent guided tours are interactive and designed to accommodate specific age groups. Tours can include architecture, the permanent collection and/or the feature exhibit. Feature exhibit tours are very popular!

Ages: Grades 1 through 12
Cost: $1 per student
Days: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
Time: Tours begin as early as 10:15 am
Tour size: A minimum of 10 students, not to exceed 60 students per visit. One chaperone per 10 students to accompany students at all times.

Dose of Art Tour and Workshop Experience (Grades 3 - 6)

The Dose of Art Tour and Workshop Experience includes an hour-long interactive tour followed by a related studio art project. The Dose or Art program is only available when feature exhibitions are on display. Openings for this program are limited to one class per day.

Ages: Grades 3 through 6
Cost: $3 per student
Days: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
Time: Tours begin as early as 10:15 am
Tour size: A minimum of 10 students, not to exceed 30 students per visit. One chaperone per 10 students to accompany students at all times.
Tour Length: 2 hours

Guided and Self-Guided Tours for University and College Students

College and university groups are welcome to request guided or self-guided tours, as well as permission to sketch in the galleries. Tours will be hosted by a guide. Classes that do not pre-register or schedule their visit in advance will be charged full admission price.
