    Past Awards

In 1999, the Nevada Museum of Art was the recipient of the sixth annual National Award for Museum Service. The National Award for Museum Service honors outstanding museums that demonstrate a commitment to public service with innovative programs that address social, economic, or environmental issues. The award is the only national recognition of a museum’s public service role and is awarded by the Institute for Museum and Library Services in Washington DC. First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton presented the award to the Museum during a formal ceremony at the White House on September 29, 1999. At the time, only 16 museums had received the award in its six year history including the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, D.C., The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas; The Field Museum of Natural History, Chicago, Illinois; and the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland.
