Summer Break Teen Camp: Figure Drawing
10 am - 1 pm
During this week-long camp, students will draw from a live (clothed) model each day. Working from life is one of the most effective ways to develop strong observational skills and gain confidence in accurately rendering the human figure. Throughout the week, participants will explore key concepts such as proportion and measurement, composition, and an understanding of three-dimensional form. Using charcoal as the primary medium, students will practice both short gesture drawings and longer, more sustained poses. All supplies and a mid-camp snack are provided.
Monday: Quick poses, gesture, rhythm and proportion
Tuesday: Quick poses, measuring, volume and balance
Wednesday: Mid-length poses, thumbnailing and composition
Thursday: Long pose, value
