ReBloom: Reno is a site-specific earthwork by Bay Area artist Ken Goldberg, created in collaboration with Kabir Shah, Sanjay Krishnan, Fernanda Viégas, and Martin Wattenberg. Drawing on live seismic data from the NN.JVTV.HNZ seismometer on the University of Nevada, Reno campus, the installation transforms the Earth’s constant motion into ever-changing circular blooms of color that evoke fields of flowers.

The work’s evolving palette derives from five landscape paintings in the Nevada Museum of Art’s permanent collection by Chester Arnold, Sandow Birk, Maynard Dixon, Jean LaMarr, and Phyllis Shafer. By linking these artistic interpretations of the land to real-time geological activity, ReBloom: Reno connects viewers to the dynamic forces that shape our environment. Immersive and unpredictable, ReBloom: Reno offers a meditation on fragility, change, and the enduring power of the natural world.
