Virtual Summer Art Camp: People and Places

This weekly summer art series introduces students to a diverse group of contemporary America artists represented in the World Stage exhibition. Each week we will focus on three artists and will explore themes found in the exhibition and techniques inspired by the artists. This week’s theme is “People and Places” and will focus on the work of artists Romare Beardon, Jacob Almstead Lawrence and Caitlin Cherry.

This virtual art camp will be held online through Zoom. Camp will meet Tuesday – Thursday from 10 am – noon. An art kit is included with your registration and can be picked up at the Museum in advance. Please email claire.munoz@nevadaart.org if you are outside the region and need a kit mailed to you (need 10 days notice). While the camp will be held virtually, your registration will include admission to the Museum for you and your family for the week of your chosen camp and we encourage you to visit! In addition to the provided art kit, please have the following supplies available each day: pencil, scissors, glue stick, ruler.

This weekly summer art series introduces students to a diverse group of contemporary America artists represented in the World Stage exhibition. Each week we will focus on three artists and will explore themes found in the exhibition and techniques inspired by the artists. This week’s theme is “Identity and Portraits” and will focus on the work of artists Kehinde Wiley, Wendy Red Star and Hung Liu.

This virtual art camp will be held online through Zoom. Camp will meet Tuesday – Thursday from 10 am – noon. An art kit is included with your registration and can be picked up at the Museum in on a Monday, July 13 from 10 am – 5 pm. Please email claire.munoz@nevadaart.org if an alternate pick up is needed. If you are outside the region and need a kit mailed to you (please provide 10 days notice for mail time). While the camp will be held virtually, your registration will include admission to the Museum for you and your family for the week of your chosen camp and we encourage you to visit! Kids’ Corner: Clay Exploration

Kids ages 8 – 14 will have fun exploring a variety of ceramic techniques in this fun and interactive five-week series. Students will be introduced to clay and have an opportunity to learn, practice and improve on their hand building and wheel throwing skills.

Kids ages 11 and up will have fun playing on the Museum’s iPad Pros as they work on story-boarding, character design and animation in this five day camp. Students will also have an opportunity to explore and sketch using the iPads in the Museum’s galleries while looking for inspiration for their own work. All materials are included with registration.

Monday – Friday, July 27 – 31
9 am – noon

Ages: 11 and Up

Kids ages 7 – 12 will have fun exploring a variety of art mediums in this fun and interactive camp. Over this five-day camp, participants will have the opportunity to hand-build sculptures, paint mini-masterpieces and sketch in the Museum galleries. All materials are included with registration.
