Students will work with the instructor to learn and understand basic watercolor principles and techniques such as washes and shading to achieve a realistic likeness. This class runs like an open studio, and the instructor will be present to give as much or as little instruction as each student requests.  

*Note: There will be a 1 hour lunch break from 1 – 2 pm.

In this immersive class, students will take a deep dive into anatomy, proportion, and academic rendering techniques by working from a single, sustained pose held by a live model over 21 hours, spread across seven sessions. This extended format offers a rare opportunity to develop a long-form drawing entirely from life, allowing time to observe, refine, and fully realize the figure. We’ll break the drawing process into manageable stages—focusing on structure, form, and value—to build a stronger understanding of realistic rendering. Ideal for artists looking to strengthen their foundational skills and push their work to a higher level of finish.

This course is designed for students with a foundational understanding of oil painting who are ready to deepen their skills and explore their personal artistic voice. Inspired by her Czechoslovakian heritage, instructor Iva Neveux will introduce student to basic painting techniques to create beautiful holiday ornaments. Each student will create two hand-painted ornaments using combinations of dots, lines, dashes and curves.  All materials included with registration.
