Photography: Intro to Digital Photo Montage in Post Production

Students will learn how to explore the fantastical and infinite worlds of digital photography through post production and practice expanding their artistic visualization. Through both visual instruction and hands-on practice on iPads, students will learn how to blend separate photos into one fantastical image reminiscent of photomontages like those of Oscar Rejlander and Jerry Uelsmann. 

Under the guidance of the instructor, students will learn how to look at image-making through a spatially aware lens and grow their imagination and gain the skills in order to seamlessly blend photos to create complex compositions. No previous design experience is necessary as this course will serve as a foundation for individuals wishing to step into the photo-making world.

*Feel free to bring your laptop or iPad with a photo editing program. Picsart is a free downloadable program/app you can find on the internet which will be the program we will be using on our iPads.

Photography: Intro to Double Exposure and Surrealist Photography

Interested in taking your photography to another level? In this workshop, students will experience hands-on lighting tutorials, learn how to sit for photos and the basics of utilizing a DSLR camera in a studio space to shoot portraits. Students will intentionally light and sit for a portrait, then transfer that image to the Museum iPads or their personal laptop. Using a photo editing software, students will blend their portraits with a landscape image to create a double exposure photograph. In addition, students will learn the basic photo editing tools and blending techniques as they create a double exposure portrait of themselves and take home a file that is ready to print!
