Introduction to Sewing Intensive: Mastering the Basics
In this introductory intensive workshop, students will learn to master the basics of sewing, while starting and completing a tote bag. If you’re a beginner or someone who needs a refresher, this class is for you! Students will learn basic sewing machine mechanics and accessories, sewing machine control and coordination (sewing in lines, curves and corners), basic hand sewing and stitches, fabric and notion selection, proper cutting techniques, and how to start designing and executing your own sewing projects.
Note: The Museum School has Singer Brilliance 6180 brand sewing machines, tools and fabric for students to use but please feel free to bring your own machine and supplies if you’d like.

Introduction to Sewing Clothes: Wrap Skirt
In this 4 week beginner friendly class, students will learn to make their very own wrap skirt. Over the duration of this course, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of a wrap skirt design, fitting techniques, reading a pattern, sewing techniques, hem and more! The pattern will be provided.

A mid-camp snack and all supplies are provided with registration.

In this hands-on class, students will learn how to blend vibrant wool colors using hand carding techniques and incorporate natural fibers like sheep locks to add rich texture and dimension. By the end of the session, students will have a charming, three-inch felted hummingbird, perfect for hanging as a cheerful summer decoration.

Textile Marbling on Scarves
Witness this magical process that transfers the paint from the surface of the water to a silk scarf. In this one-day workshop, Pietro will show students how to print on silk scarves using an array of different patterns and colors that you can choose from. After some guided practice with some of your favorite colors, students will have the opportunity to paint 2 beautiful scarves.

Introduction to Ikebana: The Art of Japanese Floral Arrangement
In this introduction to Ikebana class, students will embark on a journry of traditional flower arranging, delving into the profound beauty and cultural significance of Japanese floral art. Ikebana is more than just arranging flowers – it is a mindful practice that harmonizes nature, balance, and form. Students will work with the instructor to learn the fundamental principles of Ikebana, exploring the different styles and schools that have evolved over centuries. No prior floral design experience is necessry; this class is open to students of all levels. All supplies will be provided.
