Celebrate the arrival of spring by needle felting a little bird. In this workshop, student will have an overview of needle felting tools and techniques as well as the basics of blending colors. Working with the instructor, students will sculpt a three-dimensional bird perfect for the window sill or spring gift giving. This class is perfect for the beginner to intermediate felter and all supplies are provided.

In this workshop, using a colorful palette of wool, students will learn how to shape and sculpt flower petals and then how to combine each petal into a felted flower. Students will also learn how to card wool, for added highlights on each petal. These felted flowers are perfect on coats, totes, hats, and headbands. This class is perfect for the beginner to intermediate felter and all supplies are provided.

In this workshop, students will not only get to create a festive Valentine’s Day garland using needle-felted hearts and balls but will also learn versatile techniques. These skills could be used to craft decorations for other holidays or special occasions. It’s a creative way to celebrate and add a handmade touch to your home or gifts. Do you have a piece of clothing that you’ve always wanted to fix or alter? This is the class for you! Bring in any article(s) of clothing that need alterations or repairing except for clothing with waterproofing material. Students will work under the guidance of the instructor and learn introductory techniques for altering and repairing your clothing. Some sewing machine experience is helpful. The Museum will have machines for students to use during class. 

*Note: Only bring in your machine if you are very familiar with using it.

In this introduction to Ikebana class, students will embark on a journry of traditional flower arranging, delving into the profound beauty and cultural significance of Japanese floral art. Ikebana is more than just arranging flowers – it is a mindful practice that harmonizes nature, balance, and form. Students will work with the instructor to learn the fundamental principles of Ikebana, exploring the different styles and schools that have evolved over centuries. No prior floral design experience is necessry; this class is open to students of all levels. All supplies will be provided.

Using different wool materials including angelina fibers for sparkle, this little angel, which measures 3.5 inches, will be perfect as a tree ornament to cherish from year-to-year. Handmade boxes are not only lovely, they are also quite useful and can be used to store a range of objects, not just books. Using hard board or masonite and marbled fabric, the instructor will walk students through the basics of creating decorative boxes. Expanding on these primary box building skills, students will learn about more complex functions by adding a hatch-top and bottom drawer. This particular structure also features rounded corners giving a pleasing twist to the standard pointed corner. Everyone will leave with a multi-purpose box that is ready to use with its rounded corners, top compartment under the hatch lid, and fabric covering.

With the holidays around the corner, come join us in needle felting this snowman ornament perfect for hanging, gifting, or decorating. Working from an armature, students will create a bendable snowman and add showy fibers for sparkle and shine. Finish your snowman with a scarf, hat, and buttons to make him the star of your festive decor. Each finished snowman measures approximately 8 inches by 8 inches. All materials and supplies are provided. This workshop is suited for the beginner or more experienced needle felter.
