Art High: Observational Drawing

Tuesdays, April 21 – May 12 / 3:30 – 5:30 pm

Students will enjoy this introductory level course designed to teach basic drawing techniques through graphite pencil, charcoal, chalk pastel, and colored pencil. Students will draw from still life installations, real life models, and outside environments. Each class will focus on different drawing techniques which will include a review of the different types of drawing tools, blending and shading techniques, the grayscale, and an introduction to life drawing through changing environments and subjects.

Art High: Exploring the Grayscale

Tuesdays, December 2 – December 16 / 3:30 – 5:30 pm

Teens ages 13 – 18 learn to add dimension to their artwork by learning how to make and use the grayscale and valuescale in both graphite and acrylic paint. All materials are included with registration.

Gingerbread Workshop (4 pm)

Thursday, December 4 / 4 – 5 pm

Decorate a festive gingerbread house to take home and enjoy for the holidays. Kids will have fun frosting their houses and embellishing them with an assortment of candies to create that perfect winter scene. Dress for a mess!

Ages: All Ages (parent must accompany children under 10)

Kids’ Corner: Drawing and Collage

Wednesdays, December 3 to December 17 / 3:30 – 5:30 pm

Young artists will enjoy exploring drawing and collage to create unique layered works of art. Students will enjoy a visit to the Museum’s exhibitions to drawing inspiration for their own creations. All materials and a snack are included with registration.

Kids’ Corner: Portrait Basics

Young artists will explore basic painting and drawing techniques to create portraits.  Drawing from the Museum’s exhibtions, students will explore techniques in this four-week series. All materials and a snack are included with registration.

Art High: Sketching the Figure

Tuesdays, January 27 – February 17 / 3:30 – 5:30 pm

Teens ages 13 – 18 will enjoy exploring basic figure sketching techniques through line, value, shape and composition. The first class will explore basic drawing techniques while working from a mannequin, the last three classes will include drawing sessions with a live posed model dressed in swim or athletic attire.

Students to supply a18 x 24 Newsprint Pad.
A variety of drawing materials will be provided.

Winter Break Clay Camp

Mondays, January 5 – Friday, January 9 / 8:30 am – 12 pm

Kids ages 7 – 12 will have fun exploring the tactile nature of clay. Instruction will encompass basic hand building, throwing on the wheel, and sculpture. In this 5 day camp, students will learn about the basics of pottery, glazing and the transformation of their pieces from the heat of kiln. This will be a fun and educational class. All works will be fired in the Museums’ kiln. Snack and materials are included.

Wednesdays, February 25 – March 18 / 3:30 – 5:30 pm

Young artists will enjoy creating viewing both contemporary and historical references of animals in art. Drawing from the Museum’s exhibitions, students will explore basic painting and drawing techniques in this four-week series. All materials and a snack are included with registration.
