Ceramics: Open Studio
Intermediate and advanced level students will enjoy developing their hand building and/or wheel throwing techniques in this open studio ceramics class. Instructor will introduce students to new techniques, will encourage experimentation and will assist students with independent challenges. Studio, clay and glazes are provided.

Introduction to Textile Marbling
This popular marbling workshop will introduce students marbling techniques on fabric that can be used for covering books and boxes. Students will begin the day by working on basic marbling skills. With the instructor’s guidance, they will work on new patterns with an eye for nuance. The main focus will be on marbling fabric to create book cloth, and techniques for other textile uses will also be discussed. At the end of the day, the instructor will demonstrate how to prepare pieces of marbled cloth for use in bookbinding. Students will leave with their own stack of marbled fabric pieces. All materials provided with registration.

Miniature Pine Needle Baskets
Create a miniature pine needle basket using natural materials. Learn from the basket making tradition of Audrey Frank’s native Nevadan Washoe/Paiute culture. Explore weaving methods by combining pine needles, sinew and raffia in this one-day workshop.

Kids of all ages will enjoy playing in clay with their parents as they create holiday ornaments. Families will create keepsake ornaments in this fun and messy class. Class will be run as a two-hour open studio and families are encouraged to stay for as little or as long as they would like. Ornaments will fired be ready to pick up one week after the class.

Drawing Utensil: Pen, Graphite Pencils, Black Colored Pencil or Charcoal Pencil. (You are free to bring any drawing tool you feel comfortable with make sure to have an art pencil though the normal #2 just can’t get the job done.)
Pencil Sharpener (If using something such as pens or mechanical pencils please bring extras or refills)
Eraser: Pink Pearl, Gummy or white preferred
Optional: Ruler, Compass
Ceramic Workshop: Teapots
Learn how to make all of the elements needed to create your own teapot! We will be throwing on a pottery wheel and hand building to make a functional teapot. Spout, handle and lid construction will be covered. All pieces will be fired and ready to be picked up two weeks after class.

Learn how to marble different kinds of clay together to create fun effects with different colors and clay bodies. We will be throwing on a pottery wheel and hand building making mostly functional pottery. Bring in your fun ideas, we can make anything! All pieces will be fired and given a clear coat of glaze ready to be picked up two weeks after class.

Landscape Monotype Prints
Learn to create beautiful one of a kind monotype landscape prints. You’ll learn all about the tools, techniques and resources you need to create monotypes. The class will include a walk through the museum to look for inspiration, sketch and see what is hanging in the galleries. Students will have plenty of time to print and learn a variety of monotype techniques.
