Life Drawing: Open Studio
Wednesdays, October 28 – November 18 / 6 – 9 pm
Improve your life drawing skills and explore a variety of media while working freely from a nude model in this popular open studio class. The instructor will be present to coordinate class and offer instruction upon request. Both male and female models will be posed and drawn.

Ages: 18 and Up / All Levels
The following are suggested basic supplies – all media are welcome, so please bring whatever supplies you need for whichever media you are using.
- Drawing board – 20”x 26” or larger (light-weight masonite works best)
- Newsprint pad – 18”x 24” – rough surface recommended
- Bull dog clamps or similar to attach pad to board
- Vine charcoal, thin and fat pieces
- Choice of conte crayon, 6B graphite pencil or sticks, china marker, compressed charcoal, carbon pencils, or any suitable medium for drawing on newsprint
- Large kneaded eraser
- Pink pearl eraser
- Portable pencil sharpener or utility knife (best for soft/medium pencils)
- Clean small rags
- Sandpaper pad for sharpening drawing mediums
- Stumps for blending (optional)
Gingerbread Workshop (6 pm)
Thursday, December 10 / 6 – 7 pm
Decorate a festive gingerbread house to take home and enjoy for the holidays. Kids will have fun frosting their houses and embellishing them with an assortment of candies to create that perfect winter scene. Dress for a mess!

Día de los Muertos: Sugar Skull Workshop (5:30 pm)
Thursday, October 22 / 5:30 – 6:30 pm
Learn about the Mexican tradition of Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and create and decorate colorful sugar skulls! This centuries old tradition honors and celebrates the souls of those who have passed. Each student will receive two pre-molded sugar skulls to decorate and take home.

Wednesdays, October 14 – 28 / 6 – 9 pm
Learn in a working studio the advantages of using studio strobe lights. Some features include: freezing action when shooting people or objects, consistent color temperature, lots of light power and how to combine strobe and continuous light to create motion. Students will shoot live models and will receive an overview of lighting basics, safety, and exposure techniques. NOTE: Classes are taught off site at Jeff Ross’ Studio.

Digital SLR with manual exposure capabilities, computer and software to edit images, flash drive to transport images.
Mosaics 101: Introduction to Mosaics
Saturday, October 10 / 10 am – 2 pm
and Sunday, October 11 / 10 am – 12 pm
In this two-day class, students will learn the basics of mosaics, including techniques, design and grouting. Using various materials, students will be guided through a 10” x 10” mosaic mirror project. All materials provided but students may bring other objects (stones, jewels, beads, etc.) to incorporate into their piece. This class is intended for those unfamiliar or new to mosaics but all skill levels are welcome.

Mosaics: Holiday Gift Workshop
Saturday November 14 / 10 am – 2 pm
and Sunday, November 15 / 10 am – 12 pm
Students will choose from a variety of projects including coasters, frames, plaques and holiday shapes to mosaic. Students can complete three small projects or two medium projects on the first day and will be guided through the grouting process on day two. Mosaic 101 is suggested but is not required. All supplies are included but students can bring tesserae to incorporate into the projects.

Beginning Drawing: The Comparative Method
Thursdays, November 5 – December 17 / 6 – 9 pm
NOTE: No class on 11/26
Whether you are a beginner or a intermediate level artist this class is designed to help your improve your drawing techniques. Students will start with the very basics gainnig a solid foundational working knowledge of how to draw what they see with an empasis on tonal range, perspective and shading. Through drawing drills and take-home assignments students will gain a better understanding of tool use and drawing techniques to create successful drawings using the comparative method.

Kids’ Corner: Animal Illustration
Wednesdays, November 4 – December 16 / 3:30 – 5:30 pm
NOTE: no class on 11/25
Young artists will enjoy creating viewing both contemporary and historical references of animals in art. Drawing from the Museum’s exhibitions, students will explore basic painting and drawing techniques in this fun after-school series. All materials and a snack are included with registration. Note: there will be no class on Wednesday, November 25.

Girls’ Night Out: Holiday Gift Tag and Card Making
Wednesday, December 2 / 6 – 9 pm
Ladies are invited to get crafty with this fun and social workshop. Get ready for the holidays this year and create your own handmade tags and cards for friends and family. Using various paper materials, stamps, washi tape, image transfers, and more, the class will explore different methods for making unique gift tags and cards that will stand out and give lots of holiday cheer. Bring old friends, meet new ones and have a great night over a glass (or two!) of wine and a fun project designed for all skill levels.
