Creating Image Transfers
Thursday, May 14 / 6 – 9 pm
Create a variety of image transfers in this class where various methods will be taught. Using black and white as well as color photocopies, create image transfers on to paper, canvas, wood, and more using gel transfer and packing tape transfer methods.

Ages: 15 and up / All Levels
Required Supplies:
- black and white toner-based photocopies and color photocopies* (must be toner ink, these cannot be printed on inkjet prints- they will not work)
- sketchbook, moleskin journal or other blank journal (any size – accordion books work great for this if you can fine them!)
- magazines with images you like (fashion, home decor, art are all great for this)
- small wood panels, raw canvas or other objects you might want to print on/decorate (wood/canvas/paper all work well). There will be a small selection of objects will be provided to choose from as well.
Introduction to Boxmaking: Handmade Box with a Hinged Lid
Thursdays, April 16 – 30 / 5:30 – 8:30 pm
Make this handmade box for your most treasured mementos. Over the three sessions of class, students will be introduced to every aspect of hand boxmaking, including cutting and preparation of bookcloth, decorative paper and board; gluing and assembly; and techniques for scaling this structure and others to perfectly enclose a particular book or keepsake. Students will also be able to personalize their boxes.

- Ruler
- X-acto knife
- Bone folder
- 1″ glue brush
- A clean cotton rag
- Any decorative paper or collage elements you would like to incorporate into your box
Beginning Stained Glass I
Tuesdays, February 3 – March 24 / 1 – 4 pm
Beginning and intermediate level students will learn the Leaded Method in stained glass. A selection of patterns will be provided for all students, although returning students working in the foil method may generate their own patterns.

Instructor Notes:
Each student is expected to complete a small stained glass window provided they attend every session, however completion cannot be guaranteed. Returning students may elect to learn the Copper Foil Method, with the understanding that Lead Method instruction will dominate the first two classes. A selection of patterns will be provided for all students, although Foil students may generate their own patterns. Class fees includes use of tools and equipment. Glass will be a separate expense and may be purchased directly from the instructor. Depending on selection, students can estimate glass to run between $45 and $75 (payable directly to Cindy Oberlander, artist/owner of The Art Glassery.
Baby Painting (10:30 am)
Saturday, February 21 / 10:30 – 11:15 am
Bring your baby or toddler and go beyond finger-painting by blobbing, smushing, and smearing colors with hands and feet! Witness baby’s first painting with no mess at home. Your wee one will make a creative keepsake for the family to cherish. Dress for a mess!

Art High: Portraits in Paint
Tuesdays, February 24 – March 24 / 3:30 – 5:30 pm
Teens ages 13 – 18 will enjoy exploring portrait through line, value, shading and composition while working in acrylic paint. Students will explore basic sketching and painting techniques to better understand their subject matter and materials.
Supply List: Student to supply a 18 x 24″ newsprint drawing pad. A variety of painting and drawing materials will be provided for use in class.

Studio Portraits 1-2-3
Wednesdays, February 25 – March 11 / 6 – 9 pm
Learn studio portraiture using just one light, then two lights and then three lights. This course is a hands-on experience using artificial lighting, including continuous light, portable flash, studio strobe and fluorescent to create portraits with depth and drama. Students will work in a professional studio.
Supply List: Digital SLR camera with manual exposure settings for shutter speed and aperture, computer with image editing software such as Photoshop or Lightroom, external drive to transport digital images.

Prerequisite: Some Camera Experience (students must be familiar and comfortable with their DSLR camera settings)
