Holiday Cards in Watercolor
Sunday, December 7 / 1 – 4 pm
Using ink and watercolor, learn how to make your own cards for the holidays. Create several original cards ready for mailing and learn how to reproduce your favorites. No art experience necessary! Bring a friend, enjoy some cookies and go home with some fun holiday cards. All materials included.

Book Arts: Hardcover Journal with Exposed Spine
Saturday, February 7 / 10:30 am – 4:30 pm
This hardcover journal has an attractive opening in the center of the spine to better show off your hand stitching and signatures. The elegant bookcloth covers, end papers and eclectic assortment of inner pages make this a beautiful, personalized book.

Radiant Mandalas: Meditative Drawing and Journaling
Wednesday, January 14 / 10 am – 2 pm
Students will explore the origins of the mandala (radiant) and the significance of these designs to various cultures. Experience the joy of learning the construction techniques that allow the inner self to manifest in a physical design filled with color and intricacy. Students will explore techniques to still their minds and bodies in order to relax and allow mandalas to flow onto paper and to then delve deeper in exploring journaling techniques. All necessary materials will be provided, but, if you have a journal or your own pens and colored pencils that you enjoy using, please bring them.

Winter Break Clay Camp
Mondays, January 5 – Friday, January 9 / 8:30 am – 12 pm
Kids ages 7 – 12 will have fun exploring the tactile nature of clay. Instruction will encompass basic hand building, throwing on the wheel, and sculpture. In this 5 day camp, students will learn about the basics of pottery, glazing and the transformation of their pieces from the heat of kiln. This will be a fun and educational class. All works will be fired in the Museums’ kiln. Snack and materials are included.

Creating Image Transfers
Thursday, January 22 / 6 – 9 pm
Create a variety of image transfers in this class where various methods will be taught. Using black and white as well as color photocopies, create image transfers on to paper, canvas, wood, and more using gel transfer and packing tape transfer methods.

Ages: 15 and up / All Levels
Required Supplies:
- black and white toner-based photocopies and color photocopies* (must be toner ink, these cannot be printed on inkjet prints- they will not work)
- sketchbook/moleskin/journal (any size and moleskin accordion books work great for this)
- magazines with images you like (fashion, home decor, art are all great for this)
- small wood panels, raw canvas or other objects you might want to print on/decorate (wood/canvas/paper all work well)
Watercolor for Beginners
Wednesdays, January 28 – February 18 / 1 – 4 pm
Learn the skills used in creating beautiful paintings using translucent watercolors. Beginners will learn the basics of pallet set up, color mixing, composition and a wide range of watercolor techniques including washes, glazing, dry brush work and “special effects.”

- Colors: Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine, Cadmium Yellow, Alizarin Crimson, Sap Green, New Gamboge, Yellow Ochre
- Plastic studio pallet with at least 10 paint wells
- 2 HB Pencils
- Watercolor Brushes: #6 or #7 Round and #10 or #12 Round and Wash (flat) Brush at least 1 inch wide
- Pad of Arches 140# cold press watercolor paper
- Roll of paper towels
- 2 Plastic water containers
- Additional watercolor supplies (paints, brushes, etc) are welcome but not necessary

Gingerbread Workshop (6 pm)
Thursday, December 4 / 6 – 7 pm
Decorate a festive gingerbread house to take home and enjoy for the holidays. Kids will have fun frosting their houses and embellishing them with an assortment of candies to create that perfect winter scene. Dress for a mess!

Kids’ Corner: Portrait Basics
Wednesdays, January 21 – February 11 / 3:30 – 5:30 pm
Young artists will explore basic painting and drawing techniques to create portraits. Drawing from the Museum’s exhibtions, students will explore techniques in this four-week series. All materials and a snack are included with registration.

Clay: Earthworks
Wednesdays, January 14 – February 18 / 6 – 9 pm
Create decorative and functional pottery in this six-week class designed for the beginner as well as those who have taken intermediate pottery classes in the past. Students will learn how to work with clay in both hand building, and wheel-throwing techniques. Finishing methods such as decorating, stamping, painting, and staining will be introduced as well as the discussion and practice of firing and glazing of clay works. Stoneware clay will be used and cone 6 and cone 06 glazes will be available. All firings will be done by the museum in an electric kiln. All materials are provided.
