The Art of Collage
Collaging is the art of sticking various different materials such as photographs, pieces of paper or fabric on to a backing. In this class, students will learn about the aesthetics of collage, melding the ideas of reality and fiction as the instructor guides them through the process of creating their own piece using everyday materials.
Supplies are provided, but feel free to bring any materials you’d like to incorporate into your collage piece.

Introduction to Oil Painting and Beginner Technique
Oil painting, often regarded as one of the most challenging yet rewarding art forms, offers unmatched depth and versatility. This beginner-friendly course is designed to demystify the medium and provide a supportive introduction to its fundamentals. Under the guidance of the instructor, students will explore essential materials, foundational techniques, and core principles of oil painting. By the end of the session, participants will have a solid understanding of the tools and processes, equipping them with the confidence to continue their artistic journey.

This course is an introductory exploration of screen printing using paper stencils. Screen printing is a fast and easy way to create everything from fields of color to detailed and intricate designs – the possibilities are endless. In this course, students will learn about screen maintenance, printing process and how to care for printing tools and supplies. Participants will walk away from the course with an edition of their own multi-layered screen prints with one-of-a-kind designs.

Students will learn basic sewing machine mechanics and accessories, sewing machine control and coordination (sewing in lines, curves and corners), basic hand sewing and stitches, fabric and notion selection, proper cutting techniques, and how to start designing and executing your own sewing projects.
Note: The Museum School has Singer Brilliance 6180 brand sewing machines, tools and fabric for students to use but please feel free to bring your own machine and supplies if you’d like.

Drawing: Long-Pose Anatomy Bootcamp
In this immersive class, students will take a deep dive into anatomy, proportion, and academic rendering techniques by working from a single, sustained pose held by a live model over 20 hours, spread across five sessions. This extended format offers a rare opportunity to develop a long-form drawing entirely from life, allowing time to observe, refine, and fully realize the figure. We’ll break the drawing process into manageable stages—focusing on structure, form, and value—to build a stronger understanding of realistic rendering. Ideal for artists looking to strengthen their foundational skills and push their work to a higher level of finish.
