Improve your portrait drawing skills and explore a variety of media while working freely from a model. This drawing class is open to students using any drawing media they are most comfortable with. The instructor is well versed in all drawing mediums and will be present to coordinate class and offer instruction through demonstration and upon request. Both male and female models will be posed and drawn. Please bring in any drawing media you have and the Museum School will have additional drawing materials for students to try out.

Drawing II: Linear and Atmospheric Perspective

Learn to draw buildings and room interiors. Offered for continuing beginning and intermediate students. Drawing ll builds on the fundamentals of Drawing l with focus on working conceptually. You will learn how to create the illusion of space using both linear and atmospheric perspective, as well as the use of cross-contour line to express 3-dimensional volume.

Book Arts: Intro to Book Binding

Learn how to make your own books and journals in this hands-on introduction to bookbinding workshop. Starting with a brief introduction to the form of the book, students will learn how to identify different parts of the book and plan out materials and content. Using basic bookbinding tools and techniques, students will learn 3-4 different binding structures and leave with finished models that can be used as journals and sketchbooks or as reference models for creating your own at home. These skills will provide a foundation that can be built upon to create more advanced structures. All materials and tools will be provided and no prior bookbinding experience necessary!

In this class, students will learn how to render the human face as you study its anatomy, including bone structure, muscle tone and the relationship between facial features. Students will work with the instructor to learn and understand basic watercolor principles and techniques such as washes and shading to achieve a realistic likeness. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist looking to refine your techniques, this class offers a comprehensive exploration of portrait painting.

Students will explore the amazing world of kiln-formed glass art by utilizing clear and colored flat glass along with various tools and techniques. Students will have the opportunity to create holiday ornaments and holiday decor. Learn about the process of designing, cutting, melting, and kiln-forming the glass. Additionally, students will learn about the science, history, technology, and culture of this unique medium. All supplies are provided.
