Life Drawing: Open Studio
Improve your life drawing skills and explore a variety of media while working freely from a nude model in this popular open studio class. The instructor will be present to coordinate class and offer instruction upon request. Both male and female models will be posed and drawn.

The following are suggested basic supplies – all media are welcome, so please bring whatever supplies you need for whichever media you are using. Show a confirmation receipt at Nevada Fine Arts for a 10% discount.
- Drawing board – 20”x 26” or larger (light-weight masonite works best)
- Newsprint pad – 18”x 24” – rough surface recommended
- Bull dog clamps or similar to attach pad to board
- Medium and Support Items:
- Vine charcoal, thin and fat pieces
- Choice of conte crayon, 6B graphite pencil or sticks, china marker, compressed charcoal, carbon pencils, or any suitable medium for drawing on newsprint
- Large kneaded eraser
- Pink pearl eraser
- Portable pencil sharpener or utility knife (best for soft/medium pencils)
- Clean small rags
- Sandpaper pad for sharpening drawing mediums
- Stumps for blending (optional)
Portrait Drawing: Open Studio
Improve your portrait drawing skills and explore a variety of media while working freely from a model. This drawing class is open to students using any drawing media they are most comfortable with. The instructor is well versed in all drawing mediums and will be present to coordinate class and offer instruction through demonstration and upon request. Both male and female models will be posed and drawn. Please bring in any drawing media you have and the Museum School will have additional drawing materials for students to try out.

Costumed Figure Drawing
In this weekly costumed figure drawing class students will be exploring the clothed figure. Students will focus on creating a narrative with themed costumes, dramatic lighting and props. You will learn how to connect clothing to the underlying form, efficiently, in both short and long poses. All drawing media will be welcomed for this class.

Young Artist Series: Digital Art and Illustration
Teens ages 12 – 15 will explore the basics of Procreate on the Museum’s iPad Pros as they work on storyboarding, character design and animation in this after school series. Students will also have the opportunity to learn drawing fundamentals and techniques that can be applied to all forms of drawing. All materials and snack are provided.

Introduction to Graphic Design
In this workshop students will learn the fundamental principles of graphic design through both visual instruction and hands-on practice on iPads. Students will be given design briefs to exercise their understanding of design theories, and how they can utilize layout, type and color to communicate deeper messages. In this one-day graphic design workshop, you will learn how to apply design principles by structuring a visual hierarchy using space and type. No previous design experience is necessary as this course will serve as a foundation for individuals wishing to step into the design world.
NOTE: iPad Pro and software will be provided for students to use during class time.

Introduction to Digital Illustration
Learn the basics of Procreate while using the Museum’s iPad Pro. Students will learn what each tool in Procreate is used for and how to utilize them to create finished digital illustrations, typography and short form animations. Drawing foundations and techniques will be learned and applied throughout the class.
NOTE: iPad Pro and Procreate software is will be provided for students to use during class time.

Contemporary linoleum block printing is an exciting, economical, and accessible alternative to traditional woodblock printmaking. Linoleum blocks can be easily printed at home with little set-up. Students will learn to transfer an image to a block, use tools to carve, register multiple layers, use a press, and print by hand. Class time will be dedicated to demonstrations of techniques, and ample working time with one-on-one instruction. Students will be able to use their blocks to create holiday cards or work to be hung on the wall! No printmaking experience is necessary! Students should bring in photographs, images from magazines, or drawings for inspiration. All other materials such as inks, paper, blocks, and carving tools are provided and included with your registration.
