The Jeff Crosby Band presented by For the Song
Join The Jeff Crosby Band for a special evening of Americana Music in the Wayne L. Prim Theater presented by For the Song.
Singer-songwriter and guitarist Jeff Crosby has been writing songs, performing and sharing his unique perspective of Americana throughout the United States and beyond for the better part of the last 18 years. Born and raised in a mountain town in Northern Idaho, Crosby creates critically acclaimed music that has landed him in the genres of rock, folk, and Americana. Writing about the rare beauty found in his travels and the unconventional stories of the people and places he has encountered along the way, he has spent the last decade sharing the stage with an array of performers including Lukas Nelson, Charley Crockett, Nikki Lane and many more.
After dropping out of school at 17 to pursue touring full-time, he’s made his living by permanently staying on the road. Through a chance encounter in the city of Los Angeles, he met and befriended a music editor and ended up with two songs (Oh Love, Oh Lord and This Old Town) featured on the FX hit series Sons of Anarchy.
Now based in Austin, Jeff brings alt-country roots and jam-band rock skills to both writing and performance, turning personal experiences into albums and insights.
“Crosby’s songwriting has that perfect balance of folk/rock/country that feels like it defies genre in all the right ways. If you’re a fan of the Stapleton/Isbell movement in Americana and alt-country music, Crosby is definitely worth your time.” – Ear to the Ground
“Crosby’s material draws from the rare beauty found in his travels and the unconventional stories of the people and places he has encountered along the way…, his work has been compared to the work of legendary and beloved singer/songwriters like Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt and Steve Earle.” – JOVM
*Doors open at 5:00pm with a cash bar.
About For the Song:
The For the Song Fund has been established by Patrons from the Arrowcreek Community and The Club at Arrowcreek to provide support for nationally touring, critically acclaimed but lesser recognized artists to play one or more shows in our Reno/Tahoe community. The music business model for lesser-known musicians has been severely impacted by streaming, making touring the only realistic revenue source. Radius clauses and tight margins at traditional venues constrain touring revenues to the point that Northern Nevada often misses out on extraordinary talent. Patronage is the answer! For the Song Patrons fund private and public shows, making multiple-performance visits to Reno/Tahoe productive for great artists who may not otherwise offer their art here.
Creative Directions in Jazz presented by Reno Jazz Orchestra
The Reno Jazz Orchestra presents a showcase of original compositions by contemporary composers. Led by Guest Music Director Gary Mayne, the seventeen-piece orchestra invites you on a musical journey exploring new and innovative directions in jazz music.
*Doors open at 6:30pm with a cash bar.
Grammy-Nominated Recording Artist John Fullbright – Presented by For The Song
Join John Fullbright for a special evening of Americana Music in the Nightingale Skyroom. John Fullbright is a Grammy-nominated, American Folk singer-songwriter from Okemah, Oklahoma. He began playing piano at the age of five and was performing in folk festivals by the time he was in high school. Fullbright was a founding member of the Turnpike Troubadours and the Mike McClure Band before beginning his solo career. Fullbright has released multiple albums including From the Ground Up, which received a Grammy nomination in the category Best Americana Album.
“At the beginning of his career, John Fullbright was considered one of the fastest-rising names in the Americana scene, validated by a Grammy nomination. Now an album released eight years later into a musical world where there are dozens of rising names, and some in independent country and Americana have become outright superstars, the threat is that it gets overlooked. But the talent has never waned from Fullbright. And no matter how conflicted he might feel about it, his music deserves attention.”
— Saving Country Music
“In a short-attention-span world overloaded with sensory stimulation, there aren’t many artists who can stop you in your tracks with a single song, let alone repeat the feat through an entire album. But with Songs – a seemingly simple title that says all it needs to while perfectly encapsulating its contents’ understated brilliance – Fullbright and producer Wes Sharon do exactly that. Albums like this one don’t come along very often. But then, artists like John Fullbright don’t, either. Here’s hoping he’ll amaze us for a very long time.”
