Erv Schroeder: Stone Time Keepers

IAE2508

Summary Note

Beginning in the late 20th century, photographer Erv Schroeder made numerous trips throughout the American Southwest, resulting in two bodies of infrared photographic work: a book titled The Memory of Stone (film images, 1995 – 2013) and Time Keepers (digital images, 2014 – present).

Biographical Note

Erv Schroeder is a photographer who also works as a user interface analyst, graphic designer, and web designer. He lives in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and has an MFA in photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology. His work has been exhibited throughout the United States and featured in the online magazine F-Stop and in Black & White magazine. He was an artist-in-residence at Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona. He used infrared film for decades until it was discontinued. To continue his exploration of the Southwestern landscape, he began using a digital camera converted to infrared in 2014 (Time Keepers series).
