Hands ON! Second Saturday – Winter Wonderland
Get in the holiday spirit at this special Estelle J. Kelsey Foundation Hands ON! Second Saturday. This fun-filled community day offers free admission, hands-on art activities, a hot chocolate bar, a special rendition of ‘The Grinch’ and ‘The Nutcracker’ as well as storytelling, docent-guided tours, and even a special book signing event. Art Expeditions provides children the opportunity to engage with Museum staff and take a closer look at current works on view.
This is also our annual Museum School Open House, and the Museum School is offering a 20% discount on upcoming class registrations for this day only!
Also, join us in the new Bretzlaff Book Shop for book signings with Nevada Poet Laureate Shaun Griffin, authors Michael Branch and Mark Curtis, artist Craig Mitchell, writer/photographer Scott Mortimore and more!

Attend a screening of Teknolust, a film by Lynn Hershman Leeson. Tilda Swinton plays four roles in this award-winning film about Rosetta Stone and her three Self-Replicating Automatons, which she cloned from her own D.N.A. Impressions in Ink: Exploring the Art of Printmaking
Join Meg Pohlod, print artist and Manager/Instructor of Record at Black Rock Press at the University of Nevada, Reno, for an engaging discussion on her work, research, and the art of printmaking. Pohlod’s visual research offers a unique perspective on theories of memory, disability, trauma and family – exploring what is remembered and how it is manifested. Her work draws on personal and contemporary discourses, offering insight into the intersection of these themes.
Pohlod’s distinctions include awards from the California Society of Printmakers, the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, and the Redfield Fellowship at Black Rock Press. She has exhibited her work and served as a visiting artist both nationally and internationally.
Following the talk, attendees will be able to view materials from Black Rock Press publications and projects.
