SOLD OUT: Tahoe Rim Trail Association Hike: Echo Summit/Echo Lake

Explore scenic locations in a series of guided hikes presented in partnership with the Tahoe Rim Trail Association and the Nevada Museum of Art. Long-time Museum docent, experienced trail builder and crew leader, Bob Anderson will reveal and discuss scenic highlights along the trail as they relate to the artists and artworks featured in the exhibition Tahoe: A Visual History. Pre-registration is required. Registration closes three-days in advance of the scheduled hike.

Echo Summit/Echo Lake: Group will meet at the TRTA office in Stateline. Directions will be provided to registrants 2-3 days prior to hike. Hikers will look at and discuss the photography of Charles Weeds as it relates to Johnson Grade and Hawley Grade. A short drive to Echo Lake trail head will then start the 3-mile round trip hike and an exploration of the work of artist Anne Brigman and her work in Desolation Wilderness.

Connecting with Nature in an Urban Environment

The Nature Conservancy collaborated with Downtown Project, Iowa State University and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas designers to build a 120-square-foot parklet in Las Vegas. The parklet—a tiny intervention called “The Waiting Game” in the downtown district—is a public place for relaxation and enjoyment that transforms a parking space at 180 South 6th Street, near Carson Avenue, into a slice of public urban space where people can come into contact with nature through the parklet’s plantings, have a picnic, play a game, and learn about nearby natural areas and wildlife through concrete engravings. Sit, Stay, Ride

This feature-length documentary tells the stories of 15 dogs and their owners, from the military veteran riding cross-country with his dog Hercules to visit war memorials, to European immigrants exploring the open road with their two beagles, it’s a fun movie that combines two things almost everyone will love. Across America, dogs are riding in the open air of motorcycle sidecars, whether on short trips around town or extended adventures on the highway. Sit Stay Ride: The Story of America’s Sidecar Dogs is a delightful and inspiring documentary film about motorcyclists and their beloved canine co-pilots.

Architecture & Design Film Festival
