Bringing Botanicals to Life

Learn the finishing touches of adding details to botanical art that brings your work “off the page.” This workshop will take several summer garden specimens from sketch to frame. The class is designed for students with either previous botanical or water color experience.

Instructor: Carroll Charlet

Ages: 15 and Up / Some Experience

Required Supplies:

  • Water color set that includes sap green, lemon yellow and alizarin crimson
  • Water color brushes including a #8 or #10, and a #6 or #2 Lifting brush #2 or #4 (hog hair bristle, or Bright Roberts brush)
  • 4 ea 9×12 Arches 140# cold press water color paper (or block or tablet of same)
  • Sketch paper or pad 140#
  • 2 graphite soft leaded pencils, or 2 mechanical pencils
  • Kneaded eraser
  • Roll of paper towels
