Introduction to Pyrography Techniques: Wood Burning on Panels

Saturday, March 10 / 9 am – 4 pm

Pyrography means “writing with fire” and is the traditional art of using a heated tip to burn designs onto natural materials, such as wood, leather, or gourds. In this workshop, students will be introduced to the various types of wood burning techniques, tools and nibs and will learn how to transfer designs/drawings onto a two-dimensional surface. Students will work on line quality, value, contrast and shading while using wood burning tools. Students will then learn how to apply fur and feather textures as they work towards the completion of an 8 x 10” panel using a design provided by the instructor. All materials provided with registration.
