Hands ON! Second Saturdays
The Hands ON! on Second Saturdays program offers monthly free admission, hands-on art activities, storytelling, a docent-guided tour, live performances, and community collaborations. “Art Investigators” which provides children the opportunity to engage with Museum staff and take a closer look at selected artworks while engaging in a dialogue about the selected pieces. Themes and programs change monthly and rotate through cultural explorations, exhibition connections and community partnerships. Guest artists, community collaborations and guest performances transition through this engaging series of monthly programs.
CELEBRATE NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH
10 am – 6 pm | Free Admission for all Visitors
10 am – 4 pm | Hands-on Project: Southwestern Inspired Terracotta Pinch Pots
10 am – 4 pm | Hands-on Project: Basket Weaving
10:30 am | Herman Fillmore, Culture and Language Resources Director of the Washoe Tribe of NV/CA, shares a traditional Washoe story and information on the importance of language preservation
11:30 am & 2 pm | Art Investigators: Unsettled
12 pm | Billie Jean Guerrero shares information on the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe Museum & Visitors Center and the story of the Great Stone Mother
1 pm | Public Tour (adult focus)
1 pm | Cultural presentation of traditional regalia and arts and crafts of the Great Basin Tribes with Ben and John Rupert followed by a traditional Pow-wow inspired song and drum performance by Young Chief
2:30 pm | Meet the Artist: Audrey Frank shares her native Nevadan Washoe/Paiute basket weaving tradition
