Stitch and B!%@#: This Ain’t Your Mama’s Sewing Circle

Thursdays, May 15 to May 29, 2014

Mama may have taught you to sew, but it wasn’t quite like this! Get to know your portable sewing machines and basic sewing techniques in a fun and casual environment. Students will sew a reversible beach tote with gusseted bottom and a matching zippered pouch with an added wrist handle. Using a personal selection of fabrics students will start by reviewing basic sewing machine functions, will cut fabric pieces for the tote and the zipper pouch and will piece the project together. Sewing exercises will involve pressing and sewing the handles and interior pocket for the tote and will then add an interior pocket and handles. Students will learn the basics of using their zipper foot and sew a zippered pouch.
