Learn how the Nevada Chapter of The Nature Conservancy is working to improve forest health – before catastrophic wildfires occur – by restoring the natural role of fire, strengthening forest ecosystems, enhancing community safety, and honoring Indigenous knowledge.

Enjoy an evening exploring the open-ended experimentation of artist Xiaojing Yan. A Chinese immigrant living in Canada, Yan investigates how nature, an inherent force within traditional Chinese art, transcends sculpture. Yan’s sculpture Lingzhi Girl is featured in Into the Time Horizon, and part of the Museum’s permanent collection.

Interdisciplinary Field Work in Art and Science: Where Global Meets Local
Artists and scientists present a series of talks on interdisciplinary field work and the sustainability of nature and biological diversity. Pujita Guha, an Indian artist and curator, and current Mahindra Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University, will join faculty from University of Nevada, Reno: Elizabeth Leger, Matthew Forister, Paul White, Chris Lanier, Kelly Chorpening and Scott Hinton.
Black Rock Design Institute: Lake Flato Architects
Lake Flato believes in architecture that is rooted to its place, responds to the natural environment and merges with the landscape. Join architect Greg Papay to explore a variety of civic and institutional projects imbued with a spirit of ingenuity and grounded in place-based architecture. This is part of the Black Rock Design Institute (BRDI) lecture series for cross-disciplinary design professionals and the broader community.
