Professor Dennis Dworkin of University of Nevada Reno, Global Studies is an intellectual historian of Britain, Ireland, and Europe who specializes in cultural theory. From this informed perspective, he will explore the working-class, conservative, and liberal responses to a changing social landscape during the Industrial Revolution, as seen in Victorian Radicals: From the Pre-Raphaelites to the Arts & Crafts Movement.

Third Coast Film Festival

Join us for the virtual premiere of the 2021 Third Coast Dance Film Festival. We’ll be screening ten premiere dance films followed by a conversation with curator Rosie Trump and filmmaker Marta Renzi. 

The Third Coast Dance Film Festival celebrates the intersection of contemporary dance and the moving image with a screening series of short dance films.

Turning Pages: A Monthly Reading Group

Escape into the era of Victorian Radicals: From the Pre-Raphaelites to the Arts & Crafts Movement through Victorian literature. This month and next, this online book club will discuss North and South by Elizabeth Haskell, following the story of Margaret Hale, a young woman from southern England who is forced to move north after her father leaves the clergy. There she witnesses the changes wrought by the Industrial Revolution, seeing employers and workers clashing in the first strikes.
